Discipline
South Miami Lutheran School endeavors to provide a Christian environment in which a child is disciplined within Christian principles.
Our only form of discipline for both the classroom and playground is "time-alone". "Time-alone" means that the child is separated from the group (a designated area within the classroom) for a short period of time. He/she stays on "time-alone" until he/she can calm down and stop the disruptive behavior. If the disruptive behavior continues, the child will be sent to the office to visit the director. Usually one trip to the office will solve the problem. However, if the disruptive behavior persists, the parents will be called and a conference will be scheduled.
We believe that children should be treated with respect and kindness. We believe that children are our greatest resources and our future. Thus, a child will always be treated with fairness and honesty.
