South Miami Lutheran Pre-school

About Our School

As a ministry of South Miami Lutheran Church, South Miami Lutheran School was founded in 1952 for the purpose of serving its members and the community with a quality early childhood experience. The inclusion of a comprehensive day care program occurred in 1980 in response to the increased need for service. The school is governed by a Preschool Committee appointed by the Congregation Council of South Miami Lutheran Church. It is comprised of officers and members of the Church, who with the Director, establish policy. The Committee meets monthly and welcomes parental input. Our school is a member of The Association of Lutheran Preschools.

We are also a licensed preschool and child care center under the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services of the State of Florida. Our license number is C-8080.

Our teachers are qualified and well educated professionals. Some have a two-year degree and others have a graduate degree. Our child care workers have been trained by H.R.S. All staff members have their Red Cross first aid training. In addition, each year all of our staff must have eight hours of in service training as required by H.R.S. All of our training is in early childhood education. Through these efforts, we feel our school offers you a highly trained and qualified staff.

Our preschool is one of the largest Lutheran preschools in the area. South Miami Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and as such shares the historic Lutheran concern for education.
